Augmented Reality Portal

This is the story of a movement in Africa that tries to cool down the planet. Pull out your smartphone to dig a hole in the ground. You can almost feel the dry heat as an Augmented Reality Portal appears. Hear the withered grass rustle in the seared wind as you step through it. Suddenly, a shovel’s first dig sounds into barren soil. Slowly, the dry landscape livens up. Not before long, laughter echoes over the now green meadow, as village kids run after on another. Using the power of technology, we brought Sub-Saharan Africa to everyone.

Our Worldis Justdiggit’s interactive documentary. To start, Justdiggit is a non-profit organisation with a simple concept. Plant trees where it matters. Henceforth, the documentary showcases local regreening efforts throughout Africa. To that end, Rooftop Immersive Studio developed an augmented reality (AR) experience to help spread Justdiggit’s story.

Markedly, users witness the impact of land restoration right from their smartphones. Consequently, they see the difference Justdiggit makes for the people in Africa. Almost as if truly present. After all, that is the power of an Augmented Reality Portal.

On the whole, we were thrilled to partner up with Lama Lama to bring this project to life. At the same time, we are incredibly grateful for the opportunity to add to this movement. Finally, we believe this collaboration reflects our commitment to use technology for environmental education and action. Even if we could just plant a seed in someone’s head.
